Rick Bartels

Rick Bartels, MBA, Managing Partner

Rick Bartels is Managing Partner of Digital Therapeutics Commercialization Consultants, LLC (DTxCC) where he supports companies in designing commercialization and reimbursement strategies for Digital Therapeutics and Digital Health products.  Mr. Bartels’ expertise includes new product launches, strategy and tactical plan development, market research, patient access, and payer strategy development.

Rick also works closely with payer organizations and was recently invited as a subject matter expert to participate in the Academy of Managed Care Pharmacy (AMCP) Digital Therapeutics Partnership Forum.  At this invitation-only meeting, Rick joins pharmacy and medical vice presidents, directors, and content experts from the country’s leading health plans, accountable care organizations, integrated delivery networks, biopharmaceutical manufacturers, universities, health economics and outcomes research organizations, and professional associations. The goal of the Forum is to create actionable guidance that allows providers and payers to enhance patient outcomes and improve efficiencies in health care.

Prior to starting DTxCC, Mr. Bartels enjoyed a 21-year career at AstraZeneca where he held numerous senior-level leadership roles with an ever-expanding scope of responsibility including Marketing Director, Market Research Manager, and New Products Planning Manager.  Rick has also served as Senior Marketing Director at CSL Behring and Global Head of Sales and Marketing for RMS Medical products, a medical device manufacturer.

 

Rick holds a Bachelor's degree in marketing and an MBA from Russel Sage College. He has also served as Adjunct Professor at the University of Sciences in Philadelphia.

Rick Gonzalez, Senior Consultant

Seasoned and inspiring senior commercial executive with a track record of success leading the commercialization departments for various companies in the biotech, medical device, and digital therapeutics industry. Over his 28 year career, Rick has built a reputation for forming and setting a foundation, putting in place strategic plans, and ensuring rapid execution for profitability and compliance.

 

Excellent communicator gaining a broad following across all levels of the organization, from C-suite and investors to global teams in major global markets. Known for building consensus, guiding operations with transparency and efficiency in mind, and adapting to market fluctuations and business requirements.

Scott Szymanski

Scott Szymanski MBA   Senior Advisor

Scott brings more than 20 years of Pharmaceutical, DME, and Digital Therapeutic Commercial Leadership in a variety of roles including:

Most recently, Scott held the role of Chief Commercial Officer/General Manager Theranica Bio-Electronics LTD.  Scott was responsible for the commercialization of a De Novo Class II Digital Wearable Device, Nerivio®.  In that role, Scott built out the US commercial team including all market and patient access departments.    Scott brings both real-world and recent experience how to best develop, implement, and manage PDT GTM and revenue producing strategies.   Scott, a former Navy Pilot, is a graduate of the United States Naval Academy and received his MBA from the University of Connecticut.

Brian Garrison

Brian Garrison, Senior Consultant

Brian brings over 20 years of life science sales, marketing, commercialization, and business development experience.

Most recently, Brian held the role of Chief Operations Officer for a preclinical stage biopharmaceutical company called Diverse Biotech. Brian has worked on multiple products in a variety of sectors, including pharmaceuticals, biotechnology, medical devices, and diagnostics. Brian has broad experience across a range of therapeutic areas, including oncology, endocrinology, respiratory, CNS, and cardiovascular. 

 

In prior roles, Brian has served as a Senior Vice President for Commercial Operations, National Sales Director, Marketing Director, Reimbursement Director, and multiple other marketing and sales roles. He began his career at Merck & Co., winning top national sales honors, both as a representative and sales manager. Brian is a combat veteran, having served with the 10th Mountain Division through combat operations in the Horn of Africa.  Brian is a 1990 graduate of the U.S. Military Academy, West Point, where he was commissioned as an Infantry officer, serving 10 years active duty in the U.S. Army.

Andy Tenaglia

Andy Tenaglia, Senior Consultant

Andy Tenaglia brings over 30 years of real-world experience in successfully organizing and leading diverse teams of client experts and independent professionals to obtain coverage and reimbursement. His vast experience includes sales and product management, leadership roles in market access strategy and tactics, co-developer - J Code Quarterly Pricing Guide, and most recently VP of Payor Strategies at electroCore. With his experience at electroCore, he is uniquely familiar with the specific challenges neuromodulation therapies face with payors and the acquired perspective of how to address them successfully.

Tom Yelle

Tom (T.Y.) Yelle, Senior Consultant

Mr. Yelle provides expertise in strategic account sales and marketing, particularly with regard to HMOs, PBMs, pharmaceutical products sales, specialty product sales, biologics, Hospital Sales, devices, and new product introduction. He also has special training and extensive experience in Leadership Development, Time Management, Contract Negotiations, Brand Positioning and Strategic Planning.

 

Mr. Yelle enjoyed a 33-year career with GlaxoSmithKline (GSK) and 3 years as a Senior Consultant with D2 Consulting.

 

Mr. Yelle’s career culminated as Specialty Account Director in the Midwest. Previous to this, Mr. Yelle held positions as GSK’s National Account Director for United Healthcare, Ovations Medicare Part D, and Prescription Solutions. Mr. Yelle was also a Senior District Sales Manager, Hospital Representative and sold PBM products on behalf of Diversified Pharmaceuticals for SmithKline.

 

Mr. Yelle supported companies in the launching and reimbursement of pharmaceutical, biotech, and devices to HMO’s, PBM’s and Employers while at D2 Consulting.

 

Throughout his stellar career with GSK, Mr. Yelle earned the prestigious Leaders Edge Award for Top District Manager in 1991 and then again in 1999 for the top Account Manager in the country. Tom has been recognized by his customers as the “Best Account Manager” 5 times by the Health Strategies Group.

 

Mr. Yelle holds a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater.

Alex Curland

Alex Curland Ph.D., Senior Analyst

Alex earned his Ph.D. in clinical psychology at Palo Alto University with an emphasis on diversity and community mental health and has several years of experience conducting therapy, along with research focused on behavioral intervention technologies (BITs). He has published several peer-reviewed manuscripts on internet interventions for depression, and enhancing adherence, engagement, and satisfaction in BITs.

 

He also works with a state-level organization in California that aims to bring technology to those in need as a method of improving mental health. Alex is passionate about increasing access to psychological services and working with serious mental illness. He is working towards his licensure as a clinical psychologist.
